Having been made redundant from his retail job due to the pandemic, Danesh joined the JETS programme feeling worried and unsure about the future. At the time of referral, he had little knowledge of JETS and, with his permission, his Employment Adviser Magda signed him onto an information session called ‘Welcome to JETS’. This gave him a better understanding of JETS and how it could best support him. It was the assurance Danesh needed at a time of uncertainty.
Danesh’s goal was to get back into employment as quickly as possible and he worked with Magda to identify what he needed to develop to achieve his goal. Magda referred Danesh to a CV event followed by two one-to-one CV writing sessions. Danesh also had some interview support as it had been some time since he last had an interview.
Danesh was feeling more confident about his job prospects and was referred to a one-day induction for the NHS Vaccination Programme, arranged by JETS. He also applied for a Laboratory administration assistant role with another company. After completing the recruitment process, Danesh was offered the administration assistant job and started work in April 2021.
After three months, Danesh was offered a role on the NHS Vaccination Programme, which was the job he initially wanted, and he decided to make the switch. Danesh was enjoying the role, but with the prospect of the vaccination programme coming to an end he did not want to be out of work again. Danesh took advantage of having access to the NHS internal vacancies portal, and applied and secured a permanent role with Whittington NHS Trust.
“As you know, I accepted the job offer in April and worked there for three months, but then I handed in my notice as the job with the NHS Vaccination Programme finally started, something else you very kindly helped me with. I loved this job, and I did very well but I knew it was going to come to an end. I was very worried about being unemployed again so, while doing this role, I applied for an internal NHS job vacancy which was offering a permanent contract with Whittington NHS Trust. This suited me so much better and I got the job.
I owe you and your team everything because if it wasn’t for you helping me, guiding me, showing me there was a work life during Covid 19, being so positive and helpful, and teaching me how to work my CV and how to do interviews, I would not be where I am today.”
A year later and Danesh continues to work with Whittington NHS Trust and is happy in the role.
