After being unemployed since 2019, single mum of two Lianne, got in touch with Find Your Future to build her confidence and ultimately find work.
Find Your Future is a joint initiative with the West Midlands Combined Authority and part funded by the European Social Fund, providing personalised employment support to residents in the West Midlands.
After hours of job searching and applying for jobs without any response, Lianne’s hopes of finding work that suited her childcare needs were low. Upon joining the programme, Lianne’s Work Coach got started on a tailored action plan and reassured her that despite being out of work, Lianne had many transferable skills. Together they worked on confidence building techniques and looked at her past employment. Lianne’s Work Coach identified that Lianne had previously worked as a housekeeper in a hotel, and very much enjoyed this role but was open to anything that would accommodate her childcare needs.
A role of housekeeper with hours that perfectly suited Lianne and her children arose, and her Work Coach arranged an interview. Lianne was delighted and could not believe the support she was receiving. Lianne’s Work Coached prepped her for the interview to ensure she felt confident, planned the route and gave her a call on the morning of the interview to give Lianne that extra confidence boost.
We are thrilled to say that Lianne was successful at her interview and started her first job in two years the following week! Find Your Future also supported Lianne with petrol costs to get her to work, while awaiting her first wage.
Lianne is very pleased with the support from Find Your Future and feels it has made a huge difference to her and her children’s lives. Lianne says:” I cannot believe that within just a couple of hours my Work Coach helped me find employment. I can’t thank Find Your Future enough! I will recommend the service to any of my friends and family should they need support in the future.”
Lianne is happy in her role and would like to progress to a senior housekeeper in the near future or alternatively look at other roles available within the hotel.
